In Q3 2022, the top communication apps on the Android platform in Nigeria exhibited diverse performance metrics, according to data from Sensor Tower.

WhatsApp Messenger experienced significant weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 200K in early August before gradually declining to around 62K by the end of September. Active users remained high, starting at around 38.9M and maintaining a steady increase to 39M by the quarter's end.

WhatsApp Business saw a gradual decline in weekly downloads from 120K in late June to about 54K by the end of September. Active users showed an overall upward trend, starting at 1.8M and ending the quarter at 2M.

Snapchat had weekly downloads fluctuating around 90K at the start of the quarter, dipping to approximately 43K by the end of September. Active users fluctuated slightly but showed a general increase from around 2.7M to 2.8M over the same period. Revenue saw occasional spikes, peaking at $117 in mid-September.

Brave Private Web Browser, VPN had a notable increase in downloads, starting at 3K in late June and peaking at 115K in mid-July before stabilizing around 44K by the end of September. Active users increased steadily from 128K to 170K. Revenue remained minimal, with occasional small spikes.

Telegram had weekly downloads that varied between 66K and 41K. Active users showed a slight increase from 4.8M to 4.9M. Revenue also saw a steady rise, starting at $55 and reaching $206 by the end of September.
